Answers
1. Coming from another state, how can I get a Wyoming license?
If you can meet all the following you may acquire a Wyoming license by endorsement or reciprocity. If you do not meet all of the following, you will have to take our written and practical examination.
- You must have graduated from a state recognized school and taken a board administered written and practical examination. (Wyoming does not recognize apprenticeship or grandfathered licenses)
- If you have less than our required hours, (2000 for Cosmetologist, 1250 for Hairstylists, 600 for Esthetician, and 400 for Manicurist/Nail Technician), you will need to prove at least one (1) year working history in your field or you will be required to examine.
- Prove that you are legally in the United States.
2. How do I get the application for endorsement or examination?
Send a money order for $7.50 and request an "Endorsement Pak" or an "Examination Pak" to the Board office. If you are not sure, please contact the office for clarification.
3. What do I do if I have lost my renewal form from the bottom of my license?
You may use the renewal reminder card that you received, and if neither is available, contact the office for a new form. If we are required to send a new form or you use the reminder card, there is a $5.00 lost document fee.
4. Do I renew for 1 year or is it 2 years?
The first year you obtain a Wyoming license, it is issued for one (1) year from the original month of acquisition. After that you are set up on a 2 year renewal during your birth month. License fees are currently $72.00 for 2 years, effective January, 2008 ($3.00 per month).
5. Do I have to have my renewal form notarized?
No, but you do have to answer the questions on the back of the form and sign it on the line marked "licensee signature". At one time we were required to have all application forms notarized, including renewal forms. These forms were preprinted and we will continue to use them until we exhaust our inventory.
